One of my all-time biggest pet peeves is when I’ve waited all day to get into my bed and watch the new episode of my favorite show and suddenly everyone wants to start talking either to me or around me.
After a long day at school or work when all I could think about are the new episodes of Secrets and Lies, Grey’s Anatomy or Scandal that would be on that night, I would like to just sit down and watch my show, IN PEACE. But it always turns out to be quite the contrary, it’s never peaceful when my show is on TV.
No one wants to wait until a commercial comes on because that would be the nice thing to do. Instead they’d rather yap while the show is on and be as quiet as a mouse while commercials are airing. I wonder if people like the commercials or if they’re just so determined to make me miss the entire show.
I’ve tried many methods to try to get people to stop talking to me or around me while a new episode is on. For instance, I would turn the volume up or pause the show (if I could), in hopes that they would get the hint and stop talking to me or so loudly. Nothing seemed to work. The only method that seemed pretty solid with most people is when I would go upstairs into my room and shut the door. For some reason, my parents still don’t get the hint so they’ll try to come in and talk to me, eventually I started locking the door and turning up the volume and finally I stopped getting bothered.
If you’re like me and you’re always getting bothered while trying to watch a new episode of your favorite show, go into your room or any room with a door and lock it. It works…. sometimes.
